The 43rd episode of the Marauder Shields comic. In this one… Zaeed leads by example, taking his newly found ally on an escapade promising an uncertain end.

An alternative track to read the comic with, as an experiment – in my mind, Zaeed Massani always walks to the rhythm of this tune (“Kashmir Instrumental”):

What an awesome episode, and an awesome tribute to the amazing Robin Sachs. This is just the Zaeed awesomeness that we needed this week. Good call Koobs.

That’s the Zaeed we know and love, for sure! I also found that the suggested music track was exactly long enough for the pace at which I read it. Nice! Can’t wait to hear the audiobook.

Goddamn beautiful.

Goddamn awesome!! One of my favourites for sure, because everybody’s just so in-character…amazing work, simply stunning, and I loved loved loved the codex entry. As you know, I always wanted an explanation for what happened, even though it was not that hard to imagine how it went, but seeing it here, explained in such an atmospheric fashion – stunning. Simply stunning. If I weren’t already one of your most loyal fans, I would instantly become one after reading this piece of awesomeness. No, really.
343 gonna blow some shit up.

Beautiful. A little cliched “stupid rookie with old wise veteran” plot, but I like it. Hell, Mass Effect itself is a cliched old school action movie game (with “artistic” ending, but nonetheless), so it makes perfect sense.

Awesome episode.

Heh, more Zaeed. Just what the doctor ordered, I think.
Also, is that a hint that we’re going to see Anderson?

Awesome. Awesome to the max.
This may be asking a lot, but would it be possible to get the frame where it says, “343 Going to blow some shit up.” as a wallpaper?

Sure! It actually looks quite doable; only one dialogue bubble and the rest is just gorgeous image. We’ve got a wallpapers thread here on the site, btw, at http://www.koobismo.com/forum/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=38.3

As usual, Zaeed shows everybody (well, Rick) how to get the job done with minimum resources and a lot of grit and gun shootingness. And this makes an awesome tribute to Robin Sachs – whereever he’s kicking about right now, he’s probably kicking just as much ass as in this strip. Or he’s making Buffy and Gile’s lives a living hell, whichever he feels like at the time.
But poor RIck – man, when is that guy gonna get a break? For a guy with such an AWESOME BADASS voice (ahem), he sure is such a pussy – that should be a running gag somehow. Can’t pick up the ladies both because they keep dying on him and because he’s such a friggin’ pantywaisted coward that gets shown up by the superior manly specimen that is Zaeed hahahaha
2013-03-03 17:48:33
Don’t worry, Omie. I’m sure Rick will survive all this and live to a ripe old age and marry a supermodel.
2013-03-03 18:22:19
Really? I would guess that Rick will act “heroic” at some point (another cliched theme: stupid rookie going badass) and fail and die (not so cliched) as a result. And Zaeed will just look at his corpse and say “You really thought pussy like you may be a badass hero, eh? Hah. Guddamn idiot”.

A great tribute to Robin Sachs, amazing music, and a great explanation for what happened in the beam run in the codex. And it seems we have a hint that we’ll be seeing Anderson at some point

Nice use of “frack”!
The Galactica would approve.

Good.

It’s always so promising to see that regardless of what happens, Zaeed is always Zaeed. I can’t wait to see where this goes!

Reading the codex entry reminded me of a question I’ve had for some time now. Shepard, as well as his/her squaddies got zapped by Harbinger, after which Shep got up, MS did the deed, and the story began. But what happened to the squadmates you had with you?
Say you take Tali and Garrus. How did they go from the beam run to running an op with Liara? No squadmates seem to have been injured in MS, and we know they wouldn’t just abandon Shepard. I understand that because there’s a whopping 21 possible combinations of squadmates, it’s simply impossible to account for every one. Still, I’m curious if this is an issue that will be tackled.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore everything about MS, and after 43 episodes of awesome, this is the only thing resembling a plot-hole I’ve been able to find.
Anyway, great episode! Nice to see how an as-of-yet secluded story arc will collide with another. Totally read all of Zaeed’s lines in his voice.
2013-03-04 17:18:45
Maybe Liara was just doing whatever she was doing, and then in an amazing stroke of luck, Harby’s beam actually blasted them right next to her.

Omg, beautiful, you goddamn genius!
2013-03-05 01:42:24
I can almost hear Robin Sachs reading Zaeed’s lines. A worthy homage to his work.

first of all, codex is soo.. =D makes me excited.
second of all, it makes me giddy that most of this ep is just zaeed being zaeed guddamn massani. he kicked so much ass, and he didn’t even fire a shot. ok.. maybe one shot.
even his companion is hilarious xD

Love me some Zaeed, I really enjoyed this one.
The next Zaeed episode should be called ‘Big God-damn Heroes’
